Phone fraud

Phone fraud is a method used for stealing personal information through calls or SMS. For example, these calls can come from fraudsters posing as bank representatives asking for your card’s number and CVV code (three digits on the back) or an SMS code, allegedly sent by the store or bank. The purpose of this scam is to steal money from your card or trick you into entering your password and card details.

Fraudsters also try to gain access either to your personal account on the website or to your email. If they are successful, the information about your order and its status can and will be used against you during such calls.

What should I do if I get a call from someone who introduces themselves as a bank employee?

Always be careful. Real bank employees will never ask for your card details (number, PIN, CVV, amount of money in the account).

If you have any doubts about who is calling you, it is better to hang up and call the bank back yourself. The bank's support number is indicated on the back of the card or on the bank's website.

What should I do if I get a message from phone scammers?

If you receive a suspicious message with links, do not click on them. If you are unsure that the message is from the bank, call the bank’s customer support and check if the message was actually from them.
